What’s New: Proven Winners 2020 Selection
English Gardens partners with Proven Winners every year to bring you the highest quality plants. With more than 250 varieties available, English Gardens carries the area’s largest selection of Proven Winners annuals, perennials and shrubs. English Gardens is carrying some great new plants for May. Here’s a look at some of the annuals that will give you color all season long.
SUNPATIENS
Light: Full to Partial Sun
Bloom: Planting to frost
Height: 16 to 30 inches
These impatiens hybrid have super-blooming powers that will add color to your garden all season long. SunPatiens are easy to grow, are heat tolerant, and will bloom continuously until the fall. They look great in containers and garden beds and come in a lush pink, deep rose, fire red, neon pink, orange, purple, orchid or white.
GOLDENGATE LANTANA
Light: Full sun
Bloom: Planting to frost
Height: 20 to 30 inches
This bright and hardy plant will make a great addition to your garden beds and containers. Lantanas are great pollinators plants, attracting both bees and butterflies to your yard. The Goldgate Lantana is heat and drought tolerant and will have beautiful golden blooms well into fall.
SUNSTAR SERIES PENTAS
Light: Full to Partial Sun
Bloom: Planting to frost
Height: 18 to 22 inches
These beautiful pollinators will make a statement in your garden this summer. Sunstar Series Pentas are heat-loving and long-lasting. With bright clusters of flowers in dark green foliage, there is a color for every garden. Their Rose, Red, Lavender, and Pink blooms are great for cluster planting in garden beds and look great in containers.
DALINA GRANDE DAHLIAS
Light: Full to part sun
Bloom: Late Spring to Fall
Height: 8 to 12 inches
These colorful Dahlias will brighten up any container or garden bed. They make great accent flowers when planted in containers and will provide a continuous bloom from late spring to early fall. They’re available in gemstone colors including Topia, Castillo, Emilio, Romero, Cancun, Mendoza, and Tequila.
RASPBERRY RUSH SUPERTUNIA
Light: Full to part sun
Bloom: Season-long
Height: 6 to 12 inches
Raspberry Rush is a new “flavor” of the popular supertunia collection. This plant boasts hot pink petals with white accents and is sure to be a show-stopper in your garden bed or container. They are great for hanging baskets and containers and mix well with other plants.
DIAMOND EUPHORBIA COLLECTION
Light: Full to part sun
Bloom: Season-long
Height: 12 to 18 inches
The Diamond Collection has four varieties for 2020. The Diamond Snow®, the Diamond Delight, the Diamond Mountain, and the Diamond Frost®. These heat and drought-tolerant plants are great for garden beds and mix well with others in containers. You’ll find plenty of areas to use these sensational plants.
HEART TO HEART CALADIUMS
Light: Sun or shade
Bloom: Season-long
Height: 15 to 20 inches
These vibrant foliage plants will add season-long color to your garden or container. Great as a spiller in containers or adding some bright reds, pinks and greens in your garden bed, Heart to Heart Caladiums are heat tolerant but don’t like too much water. A well-draining soil is important for proper growth.
SUNCREDIBLE HELIANTHUS
Light: Full sun
Bloom: Spring thru frost
Height: 24 to 42 inches
Suncredible Helianthus are beautiful sunflowers that work great in garden beds and in containers. These season-long bloomers will brighten up your outdoor area. Plant in the back of your garden bed or the middle of your container to give it some height. Suncredible Helianthus is powdery mildew and deer resistant and will attract bees and butterflies.
